“Bringing the contents of a story to life is why I get up in the morning, the opportunity to create a visual landscape with demanding imagery that evoke feelings to an audience, is an incredible humble and rewarding experience"

Flemming's cognitive approach to lighting or to lens a scene is storytelling from an emotional point of view, he sees his most important role serving the story and the drama, using a visual structure designed to build narrative momentum that resonates with what the director is looking for, and ultimately what the audience will appreciate in the end.
